Assistant Manager (Cash & Carry) 
DescriptionAssistant Manager will have organisational and management responsibilities, reporting to the Superstore Division Manager. Because the business operates on a 7-day week basis, Assistant Managers must be able to deputise for Store Managers and efficiently run a Chinese Cash & Carry branch dealing with all aspects of site management, including sales, stock control, health & safety, personnel and general administration.
QualificationsDegree or equivalent (Preferably in a business related subject) Multi-lingual would be desirable: English and Chinese (Mandarin / Cantonese), with abilities in written and spoken dialect.
ExperienceExperience is not essential as full training will be given.

Responsibilities

To act as first point of contact for all queries from staff, customers and suppliers

To manage Cash & Carry staff

To review job applications and arrange interviews as required 

To update the staff on company policies, procedures and rules changes in meetings

To oversee and assist with stock control and ordering including organising and undertaking the quarterly stock-checks and ensuring goods are always in stock

To log customer complaints and process as necessary

To attend meetings, conferences and training days relevant to projects 

To handle investigations and meetings for grievance and disciplinary procedure

To undertake any other project work that may be reasonably assigned from time to time

To organise and provide training for Cash & Carry staff

Technical skills

Must speak Chinese (Mandarin / Cantonese) and English fluently

Ability to read and write Chinese

Ability to translate policies into Chinese

Must be able to work weekends

Must hold a valid U.K. Driving License

Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages 

Personal specification

Ability to work independently on own initiative with minimal supervision

Ability to interpret and apply company policies

Ability to analyse customer needs and make recommendation based on sound business knowledge and commercial acumen

Ability to work as part of a team

Ability to respond flexibly to change  

Understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm for working with a varied client group which includes retail and warehouse staff

Good multicultural awareness

Salary

Salary £19000 per annum

After successful completion of training the salary rises to £24000 per annum (+bonus)

Type of ContractPermanent, Full time (6 days per week)
